My oil on canvas portrait of Professor McKeegan is displayed in the new B.Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences on the campus of Niagara University in Lewiston, New York (near Buffalo, NY). Professor McKeegan was a faculty member of the Biology Department for 42 years. The painting was commissioned by his son and daughter who sent me a number of photos to use as reference which they felt captured the essence of his personality, while at the same time provided suitable detail on which to base a portrait painting. The painting required that he be attired in his university alma mater robe. They also provided separate photos of the robe, crest and medal.
After studying all the photos, I got the impression that Professor McKeegan was a dynamic bright lively character who cared about his students, expressed his own opinions without offending and had amazing charisma and charm. He looked very distinguished yet he had that mischievous twinkle in his eye and warm genuine smile that defined his remarkable personality. His hair is fantastic in one of the reference photos I used for this portrait and gives him that look of Albert Einstein brilliance that I felt would distinguish his portrait from the rest and leave a memorable impression.
I wanted my unconventional portrait style to convey his extraordinary character, personality and individuality. I hope you find that my vibrant contemporary style adds life to this memorial portrait and stands out from the rigid stoic portraits one normally finds in a university portrait gallery.
I have just completed this painting of Canada's famous schooner, Bluenose II as a fire red sunrise sets the East Coast Lunenburg Nova Scotia harbour horizon ablaze This detailed oil on canvas 48" x 36" took me many weeks to complete. The painting continues around on the 2" museum wrapped edges so that it can be hung without a frame to suit your contemporary decor or it can be framed with a traditional frame.
Prints are available as art prints, canvas prints, acrylic prints, metal prints and art cards.
I took many photos of Canada's famous schooner Bluenose II as she was docked in Lunenburg Harbour, Nova Scotia in February of 1989; however, none of the photos seemed to have the angle or light to inspire me to paint this beautiful tall ship. A year or two later in the summer, it was among many of the tall ships came to Toronto Harbour where I took more photos but the day was dull and light was not what I was looking for. I painted this painting of Bluenose II in April 2015 using one of my Toronto Harbour photos as reference; however, I painted the Atlantic ocean sunrise background and misty morning foreground from my imagination. This meant I had to adjust the light on the boat to suit the light source in my painting. The light in my photo was ordinary dull daylight from above. The light in my painting comes from the low sun on the horizon and its reflections in clouds and water which meant that the light on the ship would have to come from below. The light on this ship is based on my experience and painted entirely from my imagination.
WEEPING WILLOW SIGHS is my watercolor painting of a vibrant colorful autumn sunrise streaming through a weeping willow tree that overlooks a peaceful valley. The early morning mist rises from the tall grasses beneath the tree and makes it appear as though the tree is sighing. Colors range from blue to purple violet to red to yellow.
Reproductions of this watercolor are available as art prints, canvas prints, acrylic prints, posters, metal prints, art cards, pillows and phone cases.
I have just completed this original oil painting on hardboard of Mill Creek winding through autumn woods over waterfalls and boulders in early morning sunrise. For details and more autumn landscape paintings, please visit my website.

Sincere thanks to the collector from Calgary AB who purchased an art print of my watercolor painting called MISTY FISHING MORNING! The early morning mist rises through golden rays of the sun in this mountain stream fly fishing scene.

The"flying" colors of this Tour de France watercolor painting appear to trace the path where the racers had been moments earlier and give the impression of wind and speed. The blurred colors coming off the clothing of the racers give the feeling of urgency and movement. My technique of painting realistic figures against an impressionist background is intended to make you feel like part of the race, not just a spectator.
The original watercolor painting is 22" x 30" framed to museum quality standards to inside frame size of 32" x 40". To check on the availability of the original painting, please contact.
